Online dating isn't the problem. These 5 Myths are.

You don't have to love online dating. But you do have to stop believing things about it that simply aren't true.
The 5 Myths
Myth 1: Online dating is for desperate people.
Please. The stigma should have been retired with your fax machine. It's simply another way to meet people---and a very efficient one.
Myth 2: Everyone over 50 has too much baggage.
Baggage? I call it life experience. By 50, you've loved, lost, raised families, built careers, travelled, made mistakes and figured some things out. The goal isn't finding someone with no past. (That's a scary thought, right?) It's finding someone who has learned from theirs.
Myth 3: My singles friends have told me horror stories.
(Ok, clients who know me well...well, you know what I really want to say here!). Of course they have. Nobody calls you on a Thursday morning to say, "I exchanged six perfectly pleasant messages with a normal man." Bad date stories are entertaining. They are not data---and they shouldn't determine your dating strategy. Those friends? Maybe we don't make them Chairman of your Dating Advisory Board.
Myth 4: Online dating is for people in their 20s and 30s. Nope. 2nd Act daters belong online too and are the biggest growth sector online. People in their 40s to 70s...and beyond are dating, meeting and starting relationships online every day. This is not our parents' dating era.
Myth 5: If online dating worked, I would have met someone by now.
This is the big one. Being on a dating app and using one well are two completely different things. Your photos, profile, filters (just don't please), messaging, who you choose, how quickly you meet, and how consistently you show up all matter. Online dating is a tool. Strategy is what makes the tool work.
Love isn't luck. It's strategy.
xx, Andrea
